Global Brand Director, John Edwards, told 4×4 magazine that Jaguar Land Rover’s owners, Tata, are now “serious about replacing the Defender”.
Although there have often been stories about a ‘new’ Defender, and there are likely to have been design projects completed, this is the first definitive comment that change will come. If JLR apply the same application to the ‘new’ Defender that they have done developing the Evoque from an existing 4×4 icon, the Range Rover, then this magazine cannot wait to see the finished product; roll on the new Defender. Full details of the Evoque’s development can be found on page 20 of this issue (June).
