2-disco

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to turn your Td5 Discovery into a pick-up truck, then here is the answer. Bespoke off-road vehicle specialist Long Ranger 4×4 has just released this set of mouldings that enable you to turn a standard Discovery into a two-door pick-up.

The mouldings are complemented by Range Rover-style LED rear lights, which enhance the appearance of the resulting creation. The kit costs around £1000, and provides the competent

DIYer with all that is needed to transform their Land Rover into a very unusual truck.

Visit www.longranger.net for more details.

Available as fog lights or driving lights, in Halogen or HID, the Warn lights offer reliability and value for money. They come in a variety of sizes and each kit comes with a set of rock guards and covers.

Prices start at £116.08 plus VAT. Visit www.warn.com; click ‘Truck & Auto’.

7-loadNow, this is what we call a pick-up loadbed storage solution. Available from N&J Aluminium Linings, the dog guard and storage draw pick-up bedliner is purpose-built to suit each customer’s requirements.

The bedliner is fabricated out of aluminium chequerplate, meaning it can be hosed down when dirty and offers epic durability.

The product is aimed principally at shooting enthusiasts, who need a secure space for their dogs and for their shooting sticks. It is usually used in conjunction with an Alpha hardtop, which has to be purchased separately.

5-batteryOwners of older vehicles know that acid batteries suffer from sulphation as they age, hampering their ability to store and deliver electrical power. Usually, the only response is to fit a new battery, but this is both costly and environmentally unfriendly.

Fortunately, Megapulse has identified an alternative. The First Aid for Batteries Life Extender is promised to restore lead acid batteries to their original functioning. Using a patented pulsing device, the FAB Life Extender reduces sulphation and gives new life to ailing batteries, thereby increasing their lifespan and improving operational efficiency.

Independent tests have validated Megapulse’s claims, which should provide an incentive for customers to give the product a try. Visit www.batterypulsing.co.uk to find out more.

mudNorthern Off Road Club’s Ashley Short took his rst career win at The David Simmonite Memorial Safari, held at Baden Hall, over the Spring bank holiday weekend, writes Gavin Lodge. The event, a round of both the NORC and All Wheel Drive Club’s cross country championships, attracted over 80 crews.

Conditions changed from slippery to dry and dusty as the race unfolded and Short drove his BMW-powered TP 4×4 hard, narrowly beating veteran offroad racer, Chris Hammond, in his Milner R5, by a margin of just 11 seconds over the two-day, sixty-mile event. Robert Simmonite, driving the Simmbugghini Motorsports car, finished third.

Land Rover is to create 275 new jobs at the company’s manufacturing plant in Solihull, West Midlands. The additional positions are urgently required to support an increase in demand following the seventh consecutive month of improved sales, thanks to the popularity of the new 2010 model range. March sales in the UK recorded the highest figures for any month in the company’s 62-year history.

6-fogThese integrated fog lights are available for most makes of pick-up, from Upcountry Auto Products. Coming in at a fraction of the price of comparable components from vehicle manufacturers, the lights are recessed into the front bumper, giving a clean appearance and keeping them out of harm’s way.

Prices vary according to vehicle. Visit www.upcountry4x4.co.uk for more details.
