LOUGHBOROUGH LRC GOES THE EXTRA MILE

loughboroughThousands of women came together at Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life across the Midlands region and this year the organisers had a special team of volunteers from The Loughborough Land Rover Club.

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life is the UK’s largest women-only fundraising event series. Women of all ages and fitness levels came together to walk, jog or run 5k or 10k between May and August.

Matt Coley from The Loughborough Land Rover club said: “We love helping out on the day as we are as able to put our vehicle’s capabilities to very effective use for an excellent cause.”

The Loughborough Land Rover Club was able to support at least 10 events this year by helping to set up the course and event site, marshal while the participants completed the course and support the organisers in some difficult situations with whatever the weather and events happened to throw at them.

Laura Kavaney, Race for Life event manager for the West Midlands, said: “From the events that the club were able to support we will raise around £1.8million in sponsorship, and we really couldn’t do that without the support of volunteers and The Loughborough Land Rover Club’s dedication on the day.”
